The Cubash pattern was originally created in 1862 at the request of Count Cubash, then consul in London. The design features stylised peony branches and blossoming plum twigs, combined with intricate spiral motifs and lavish 24-carat gold decoration. The finely worked border is enhanced with red bands, gilded garlands, white-petalled flowers with yellow centres, and flowing golden tendrils, all executed with exceptional precision. The entire decoration is hand painted and richly gilded, reflecting the extraordinary craftsmanship of Herend’s master painters.
