At the beginning of my photographic career, when I had not even dreamed about the world of art auctions, I was simply captivated by a single remarkable photograph I longed to approach. Not by copying its idea or pose, but technically. It carried deep shadows, striking highlights, and within its blacks lived the faintest hint of violet. Dodge and burn (local drawing of highlights and shadows) is a slow, highly specialized process that demands sensitivity, precision and experience for the result to truly excel. I devoted six passionate hours to this post-production work. What's interesting is that after all these years, this work is more successful than the model one, for which I'm very grateful.
