Giulia Santoro

Venetian school (XIX) - Bathers in the Lagoon.

65 x 83 cm (unframed) - 76 x 93.5 cm (framed).

Oil on canvas, in a carved and gilded wooden frame.

You're right—I'm not sure it's the Cross of St. George. I'll remove that reference.
Regarding Ciardi and Fragiacomo: I confirm that the style is compatible; the lagoon's luminosity and loose brushstrokes are reminiscent of that circle. I'll proceed with the correct entry.

The scene depicts a moment of daily life on the Venetian lagoon: a boat with several figures is at the center of the composition, with a young diver standing on the bow about to dive. In the background, several sailing boats animate a lagoon with a bright, hazy sky. The palette, dominated by the cool tones of water and sky, and the loose brushstrokes in the rendering of reflective surfaces hark back to the tradition of late-19th-century lagoon landscape painting, in the orbit of Guglielmo Ciardi and Pietro Fragiacomo.

Condition report: Lined canvas. The painted surface is in good condition.
