A fine textile ikat cloth, measuring circa 85x85cm, batik decorated in dark indigo and beige to depict the Parang Rusak pattern, a stylized décor of interlocking knives (parang) that is associated with the Krathong at the royal court of Yogyakarta. In the past, this pattern was strictly reserved for the Sultan of Yogyakarta. Estimated age: 20th century, we can unfortunately not me more accurate than that. Most likely post 1945, when a lot of Indonesian people migrated to the Netherlands following the collapse of Dutch rule over the colonies, and the establishment of Indonesian independence. A tentative estimate would be circa 1950. Condition: a few small defects, see pictures. Overall in a very presentable and fresh condition.
