Robert Doisneau - Paris und die Pariser - 1955

VERY BEAUTIFUL, EARLY BOOK from 1955 (!) by famous French photographer Robert Doisneau (1912-1994) who was a champion of humanist photography and, with Henri Cartier-Bresson, a pioneer of photojournalism and who is famous for "La Banlieu de Paris" (1949). BREATH-TAKING PHOTOGRAVURE PRINTING. The book is showing some his best photos, of course also his 1950 image "Le baiser de l'hôtel de ville" (The Kiss by the City Hall), a photograph of a couple kissing on a busy Parisian street. Robert Doisneau was appointed a Chevalier (Knight) of the Legion of Honour in 1984 by then French president, François Mitterrand. Welcome to the 1st auction « Masters of French Photobooks » gathered by Anatole Desachy (France) and Ecki Heuser (Germany) at the occasion of the 57th edition of « Rencontres d’Arles » photofestival. From Man Ray & Brassaï avant-garde period of time to Lucien Clergue & Antoine D’Agata who are both linked to this fabulous city, enjoy our impressive selection of photobooks including deluxe, signed & association copies from great photographers ! The first German edition came out one year after the original first French title "Les Parisiens tels qu`ils Sont" by Robert Delpire, Paris (1954). "From the 1930s, Robert Doisneau photographed the streets of Paris. He is remembered for his modest, playful, and ironic images of amusing juxtapositions, mingling social classes, and eccentrics in contemporary Paris streets and cafes. Influenced by the work of André Kertész, Eugène Atget, and Henri Cartier-Bresson, in more than twenty books of photography, he presented a charming vision of human frailty and life as a series of quiet, incongruous moments. Doisneau's work gives unusual prominence and dignity to children's street culture; returning again and again to the theme of children at play in the city, unfettered by parents. His work treats their play with seriousness and respect." (Wikipedia) This is a lot by 5Uhr30.com (Ecki Heuser, Cologne, Germany). 5Uhr30.com guarantees detailed and accurate descriptions, 100% protection, 100% insurance and combined shipping worldwide. Christian Wegner Verlag, Hamburg. 1955. First German edition, first printing. Illustrated hardcover (as issued). 133 x 184 cm. 112 pages plus 9 pages with text. Photos: Robert Doisneau. Text: Robert Giraud and Michel Ragon. Translation from French into German: Maria Honeit, Frantz Vossen. Text in German. Condition: Inside excellent, very fresh and flawless; very clean with no marks and with no foxing. Outside with fresh covers and spine, better than usual (often with foil problems); lightly rubbed at the corners (like usual). Overall fine condition. Great, small, underrated book - with fantastic photos by Robert Doisneau.
