"Sowing the Seeds / Semear (With OBI)" is a photo collection by Japanese female photographer Kawauchi Rinko.
Born in 1972, Kawauchi gained attention in 2002 when she won the 27th Kimura Ihei Photography Award for her photo books "Utatane" (Drowsiness) and "Fireworks."
Since then, she has continued to be active worldwide, exhibiting abroad and receiving the 25th Infinity Award in the Arts category sponsored by ICP in 2009, the 63rd Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Art Encouragement Prize for New Artists in 2013, and the 29th Higashikawa Photography Award (Domestic Photographer).
Even now, after getting married and having a child, she remains active, producing collections of works documenting her daily life with her children and family.
This book is comprised of images taken in 2008, when the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art asked her to photograph "Japanese community," marking 100 years since Japanese immigrants first set foot on Brazilian soil. The collection was created after three trips to Brazil.
The result is a book that conveys the charm and diversity of Brazilian culture, not only about the Japanese community, but also about the region's natural beauty, events such as carnival, and more.
