An exceptionally fine Chinese embroidered silk "He Bao" purse, dating from the late Qing Dynasty (circa 1880 – 1910).
The fan-shaped pouch is richly embroidered in vibrant silk threads depicting auspicious clouds and waves, surrounding the four red characters 喜事如意 (Xi Shi Ru Yi), meaning “May all joyful events go as you wish.”
