A very RARE lot of two books by Jules Verne published by Sampson Low:
- "The Tribulations of a Chinaman". Translated by Ellen E. Frewer. Stated Author's illustrated edition, with 8 b/w plates. Inside overall clean and complete. Externally original cloth with wear around edges and corners, spine reattached with losses head and tail.
- "The Steam House, part 1/ The Demon of Cawnpore"...A smart English language translation of Jules Verne's novel 'The Demon of Cawnpore', the first part of his larger work 'The Steam House'. An early UK edition of this work, which was first published in English the previous decade.Illustrated with a frontispiece and five plates. Collated, complete.Part I of the two part novel 'The Steam House', an 1880 work by Verne following a group of British colonists in the Raj travelling in a wheeled house pulled by a steam-powered mechanical elephant.
Inside overall clean and complete, externally original cloth with a portion of front board cut off on right margin-see photos, light wear around edges and corners. Precedent owner's scribble on endpapers.
