A decorative lot of 6 Japanese lacquered wooden boxes, including one genuine three‑tier jubako food box, inherited from a diplomat who worked in Japan in the early 1990s.
The group shows characteristic mid/late 20th‑century designs combining black and orange lacquer with auspicious motifs such as rice ears, cranes, plum blossoms and chrysanthemums.
Round black lacquered box with rice‑ear decoration
Dark lacquered wooden box with domed lid, decorated all around with golden grass blades and clusters of rice ears in gold and reddish tones, in the style of maki‑e lacquer work; single interior compartment.
Approx. 18 cm diameter, 12 cm height.
Orange box with fruit‑shaped motifs and mother‑of‑pearl
Round orange lacquered wooden box with domed lid, the top featuring a cream band with three stylised fruit motifs, painted in multiple colours with small mother‑of‑pearl inlays; single interior compartment.

Signed with a red seal on the lid and with an internal inscription including the auspicious character “kotobuki” (long life) and the names Kazuo and Kiyoe.

Material: lacquered wood.
