Porcellana - Cina - Dinastia Qing (1644-1911)
· A small late Qing Dynasty 'Wucai' (five-color) porcelain jar decorated with 'Daomaren' (mounted warrior) patterns.
· The primary decoration features a yellow ground with green 'baoxianghua' (rosette) flowers. Four cartouches depict different scenes of figures and stories, complemented by four smaller shoulder cartouches illustrating pavilions and towers.
· The interior is painted with four goldfish swimming among aquatic plants, and a single goldfish is also depicted on the base.
· The vessel is well-proportioned and elegant. It could serve as a scholar's table jar for scrolls or, as in ancient times, be filled with water for keeping goldfish.
· It was sourced from a French auction house's Asian art sale and retains its original label. Please note the fine 'chicken claw' cracks on the base (they are superficial and do not penetrate the body, thus the jar does not leak).
