Kusama began her career as an artist by depicting the hallucinations she experienced in her childhood, and since has continued to produce works using these visions of her hallucinations and inner world. Focuses on the diverse visions of Kusama, featuring her recent painting series, My Eternal Soul as well as the participatory project, FLOWER OBSESSION and immersive installation Infinity Mirrored Room - A Wish for Human Happiness Calling from Beyond the Universe.

From an early age, Kusama has been struggling with visual and auditory hallucinations. Mental illness has had a profound effect on her creative process. Beginning with her early drawings, through to her “happenings” during her time in the United States, soft sculpture, small works created in the hospital, and culminating in large paintings and inflatables, these works can be seen as traces of Kusama's struggle with illness.
This exhibition introduces the fruits of her creative power, alongside related materials and poetry. Kusama's unique artistic philosophy, “self-obliteration,” seeks the simultaneous salvation of herself and others from illness. This philosophy remains deeply embedded in her works to this day.
