Ciondolo - 18 carati Oro giallo - Diamante - Torch e Quiver, circa 1850

Type of jewel: Cupido’s Torch and Quiver of Love, an 18K gold love pendant set with precious stones Condition: In well-preserved condition, especially given the jewel`s age. Style: Vintage antique Era: ca. 1850 Inspired by: Love and romance Theme: This jewel draws on the classical symbols of love. The burning torch evokes love that is newly kindled and meant to endure, while the quiver of arrows refers to desire that is directed and intentional. Together these attributes form a refined emblem of affection, devotion and romantic promise. Material: 18K yellow gold (touchstone tested) Extra information: The crossed torch and quiver are classical symbols of love. The burning torch stands for affection that is kindled and enduring, while the quiver suggests directed desire and intention. Together with the laurel wreath above the central stone, they form a refined emblem of devotion and romantic promise. Symbolism and purpose: These symbols were traditionally used in sentimental jewellery of the nineteenth century, where love tokens were exchanged to express affection, constancy and the wish for a lasting bond. Pieces with a torch and quiver were often chosen as personal gifts, carrying meanings that words alone could not convey. Diamond(s): Five old mine brilliant cut (also called bolshevics) with an estimated weight of ± 0.16ct. (colour and clarity: H/J, i). 84 senaille and rose cuts. A senaille is a simplified rose cut diamond, a small diamond chip with perhaps a few polished facets. - When we provide weights, colour grades, and clarity of diamonds, these are approximate unless otherwise stated, as we do not remove diamonds from their settings to preserve the integrity of the piece. - We understand that private buyers may expect diamond weights to be provided, but in the case of rose-cut or senaille diamonds, this is simply not standard practice among industry professionals specialising in antique and vintage jewellery. Unlike brilliant-cut diamonds, where weight correlates with diameter, rose cuts vary in thickness, making weight estimation impossible once set. Providing such figures could lead to unnecessary debates, as rose-cut diamonds were traditionally valued for their visual effect rather than intrinsic worth. Even major auction houses like Sotheby’s and Christie’s rarely list their weight, except for exceptionally large stones, where diameter is often provided instead. - All diamonds, regardless of their size or shape, in our vintage and antique jewellery are verified as 100% natural by the IJGC laboratory. - We do not sell lab-grown (synthetic) diamonds. Precious stone(s): Seven pearls and a pear shaped, lightly domed nephrite plaque Birth and month stones: Diamond is the birthstone (or month stone) for April and Pearl is the birthstone (or month stone) for June. Hallmarks: No trace. Dimensions: 6,00 cm (2,36 inch) x 3,20 cm (1,26 inch) - See picture with a ruler in cm and inches Weight: 11,30 gram (7,27 dwt) Adin reference Nº: 22255-0194 - All jewels are delivered in an Adin jewellery box. Jewellery boxes shown in photos are for display purposes only and are not included with the jewel, unless stated otherwise. - Accompanied by a professional report of authenticity for your peace of mind. - Shipped insured and registered for your security, though you're most welcome to collect in person. - For shipments outside the EU, import duties and other charges may apply. We advise checking this in advance. - We invite you to browse through our customer feedback to discover the level of satisfaction we consistently provide. - See more of our products, visit: https://auction.catawiki.com/lotsfrom/Adin - Antique and vintage jewellery often undergoes thoughtful refurbishment, remodelling, or repairs to enhance its longevity and wearability. Such pieces frequently bear marks of this tender care. Furthermore, we present our antique and vintage jewellery in its authentic state, refraining from removing scratches or applying rhodium plating to white gold items. Our priority is to preserve the genuine allure and history of each piece. However, as the new owner, you have the option to take it to a local goldsmith for a cosmetic refresh, should you choose.
