Descrizione del venditore
A Sendai-dansu 仙台箪笥, a single-section Japanese chest of drawers, crafted in wood and preserving its original patina.
The front features four horizontal drawers and a small side door that opens to reveal two additional interior drawers.
The wood surface shows pronounced grain and a warm tone, contrasted by the elaborate iron hardware decorated in relief with cranes among clouds (tsuru kumo). The front and side handles, also in iron, retain a uniform patina. The corners and sides are reinforced with metal fittings that provide structural solidity as well as visual balance.
The chest preserves its authenticity and reflects the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, appreciating the traces of time and the natural imperfection of materials.
Tansu are traditional Japanese storage chests, valued today not only for their functional design but also as refined examples of craftsmanship that preserve the natural patina and quiet elegance of time.
---The tansu is in good condition, with minor wear of wood consistent with age. Visible wood separation on the drawers and on the back. Please refer to the pictures for further details.
The item will be carefully packed and shipped via DHL or FedEx, accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy.
