From publisher: In 1961, Dave Heath collected the photographs he had made in the 1950s into a poetic series. The original plan for a book, as he proposed it, would be a large format, similar to the magazine LIFE. When the book was finally published, in 1965, it was reduced. Nevertheless, A Dialogue With Solitude was a milestone in photography - it quickly sold out and the last thirty years have been highly sought after by collectors. The new edition of Lumiere Press is the rebirth of a classic. With the help of the model from 1961 and the set of main prints, the book was restored to the format of the original design by Heath. The 82 images were printed in Berlin in the NovaTone process - an exceptional offset technique that preserves the brilliant tone scale of the photographs. The connective tissue and bracts duplicate the original binding. In all respects, this book is the fulfillment of the creative ambitions of the artist. On the occasion of the new edition, a cautious perspective was offered in a short contribution from Robert Frank.
