Cees Bolding (Wormerveer, 1897 - 1979, The Hague) was a student of the national school for decorative arts and from 1915 to 1921 of the national school in Amsterdam led by, among others, J.H. Jurres and N. van der Waay. He painted, drew, made watercolours, etched and lithographed. His subjects were: City, portrait, figure, marine, ports, and businesses. He lived his last years in Scheveningen. The fisherman's life inspired him a great deal.
He was a member of Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam, Pulchri Studio in The Hague, the The Hague watercolour painters, and of the Association of Dutch marine painters. His work has won many awards, such as: 3 times the Royal subsidy, as many times the Willink van Collenprijs, the Johan Cohen Gosschalkprijs, and the silver medal in the Prix de Rome. Work of him is present at the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, Gemeentemuseum Arnhem, and the Singer Museum in Laren.
