Karl Baedeker - Baedeker's Griechenland - 1888

Description
Karl Baedeker - Baedeker's Griechenland - 1888
Cartography, History, Travels - Quantity: 1

Karl Baedeker - Griechenland 1888 (Hinrichsen D467). This is the second of five German editions. This edition was made after the acquisition of Thessaly in 1881. Northern Greece was still part of Turkey then. The German editions of Greece appear to be very scarce. According to some experts, Baedeker's Griechenland is the best description of Greece only after that by Pausanias (~161 AD).

About the book condition: Very Good. It has been kept in a bookcase in non-smokers houses. It is complete with 6 maps (including the large folding one in a pocket at the back), 14 plans, 2 illustrations and a panorama of Athens. The binding is solid, the gilded lettering of title on the front cover and the spine keeps indelible, and an original silk ribbon is also present; marbled edges. It bears an ex-libris stamp on flyleaf. A clean, very nice copy.
