Pencil drawing - Hand signed - 1950-1959

Original pencil drawing by Anton Pieck.

Because of his great creativity and versatility, Anton Pieck (1895 – 1987) has obtained a unique place in the world of the fine arts. An important part of his oeuvre, is his work as an illustrator.
In 1933, Anton Pieck came into contact with Ad M.C. Stock, the director of the Zuid-Hollandsche Uitgeversmaatschappij, which resulted in years of friendship. He has made many book covers and illustrations for this publisher.

He also illustrated the book "Donker Afrika roept", written by Marguerite Steen and published by Ad.M.C Stok.

Marguerite Steen wrote five books summarised in the collective title: “En de zon ging onder”. ‘Donker Afrika’ is a cultural series novel and the second book from this series. The five parts are in line with the previously published: ‘De zon is mijn noodlot’.

For this book Anton Pieck made this beautiful signed and detailed drawing. This drawing is in very good condition.

The drawing is mounted in a cover sheet of 25 x33 cm with a mat.

On this cover page the text following is pasted: “Illustratie uit het boekwerk Donker Afrika roept, door Marguerite steen”.

The dimensions of the sheet itself are 20.5 x 20.5 cm.

The drawing will be carefully packaged and sent by registered mail.
