The Kopis was used by the cavalry (in order to hit fleeing opponents to hit them with a targeted strike) and infantrymen (as additional close combat weapon of Hoplites and Phalangites). The Kopis was spread by early Greek colonists and Alexander. Many folks fighting against Greek armies, like the Persians, Romans or Indians, took them over. It was also known among the Carthaginian and Lusitanian people, but it is usually called Falcata in this context.
