Size of beads on average 2 mm. - Turquoise was very closely associated with the Goddess of Joy and Fertility, Hathor, who was one of the most important divinities in Ancient Egypt. - Prized for thousands of years, Lapis was a favoured stone in ancient Egypt, where it was believed to lead the soul into immortality and open the heart to love. The royal stone, it was said to contain the soul of the gods. - Poppy or Cornflower amulets often appear in association with the healing, removal of pain and death. Amulets of this type were also associated to the Egyptian god Osiris, who was the god of agriculture as well as death and the afterlife. Both flowers were common all over Egypt, but especially around the Nile.
