A superb mochica bichrome pottery "florero vessel". The outside and the inside are decorated with the same thematic. The interior appears decorated with 4 large , flying condors eating from offering plates. On the outside it can be seen how a warrior and a fantastic figure try to hunt a condor in flight. The fantasy creature has an anthropomorphic body, a crocodile head and a snake-like tail and horns. On the other side, there is a seated figure of a priest or cazique with aquiline nose who has caught another condor by the tail. Includes thermoluminescence certificate. Moche. North coast of Peru. 400-700 AD. Dimensions: 20,00 x36,00 cm. Condition: Some areas with repaint. Very fine condiition. Provenance: Ex A.A Private Collection - Asturias, Spain. Through inheritance from his father R.A. IMPORTANT: DUE TO SUMMER HOLIDAY SEASON, OUR GALLERY WILL BE CLOSED IN AUGUST SO THIS ITEM WILL BE DELIVERED IN SEPTEMBER. The piece is in process of Spanish Export License renewal ( Passport for European Union), This process can take between 2 and 4 weeks - If the piece goes outside the European Union a new export license will be requested by us, This process can take beteen 1 and 2 months. According to Spanish legislation, items sent outside the European Union are subject to export taxes and will be added to the invoice, at the buyer's expense.
