DESCRIPTION:
So-called 'butter pounds' are flints that owe their name to the fact that they are shaped like the one-pound chunks of butter that farmers in the 19th century (when the finds began) moulded before selling them. These cores were commonly referred to as 'butter pounds'. The flint flakes were extracted from the core using the "Levallois" method.
