Rolling Stones - Heart Of Stone / What A Shame - Vinylplate - 1st Pressing - 1964

1. General information Artist: The Rolling Stones Single: Heart Of Stone / What A Shame Format: 7" Vinyl, 45 RPM, Single, Picture Sleeve Label: London Records Catalog Number: 45-9725 (Label: 45 LON 9725) Year: 1964 (Original US Release: December 19, 1964) Country: USA Genre: Rock, Blues Rock, British Invasion 2. Description This is an original 1964 US pressing of The Rolling Stones hit single, complete with the highly collectible Picture Sleeve. The record features the early "Purple and White" London Records label design, which predates the more common "Swirl" or plain labels used on later pressings. The A-side "Heart Of Stone" became a Top 20 hit in the US, while the B-side "What A Shame" showcases the band's bluesy roots. The sleeve features a striking high-contrast photo of the band members. 3. Condition Vinyl: Very Good Plus (VG+) Sleeve: Near Mint (NM) 4. Notes for collectors Picture Sleeve Rarity: This specific picture sleeve is considered one of the rarer US sleeves for The Rolling Stones. Finding it paired with the correct original record significantly increases the value compared to a loose disc. Label Variation: The Purple and White label is the earliest variation for this release. Later pressings switched to a white label with a logo or the "London Swirl" design. This confirms it is an early pressing from late 1964 or very early 1965. Matrix/Pressing: The hand-etched DR- matrix codes in the runout indicate a US pressing derived from Decca masters (London was the US export label for UK Decca). The 1D and 1C suffixes typically denote early lacquers. 5.
