Margit Izsépy – Ceramic Figure “Football Goalkeeper”
Beautiful Art Deco ceramic figure by Margit Izsépy, created in her studio in Budapest, Hungary.
Margit Izsépy was a Hungarian ceramic artist and industrial designer, active from the 1940s onward. She participated in major exhibitions, including the 1947 Ceramic Exhibition and the 1952 Applied Arts Exhibition at the Ernst Museum.
During the 1950s, she worked both at the Ceramic Applied Arts Cooperative (Kerámia Iparművész KTSZ) and in her private workshop.
Her best-known works are the African tribal figures, which were produced in larger series.
This football goalkeeper figure, however, is much rarer and highly sought after — a true collector’s item.
The sculpture is:
Handmade terracotta
Finished with hand-painted, flowing glazes
Showing fine craftsmanship and expressive Art Deco character
Period: 1940s
Origin: Budapest, Hungary
Height: 17 cm
Markings: Signed on the base
Very rare and attractive piece, ideal for collectors of Hungarian ceramics, Art Deco sculpture, or 20th-century applied arts.
The photos are part of the description.
