Formell svart silke seremoniell kimono med fem familievåpenskjold (Kamon) - Silke - Japan - Taishō-perioden (1912 – 1926)

Japanese Kimono – Formal Black Silk Ceremonial Kimono with Five Family Crests (Kamon) Elegant formal Japanese kimono in black silk, decorated with five white family crests (kamon) placed on the chest, sleeves, and back. Such five-crest kimono were traditionally worn for formal ceremonial occasions and are closely associated with the refined cultural life of Kyoto, including traditional ceremonies and classical performance settings. The silk displays a subtle woven texture with fine horizontal ribbing, giving depth and restraint to the fabric, in keeping with garments intended for dignified public appearance. The kimono appears unlined or very lightly lined, allowing light to pass through slightly, a characteristic often seen in refined formal or seasonal wear. The kamon appear to depict a stylised plum blossom motif within a circular frame (Umebachi type), a widely used design in Japanese heraldry symbolising resilience and elegance. The crests are finely executed and provide a strong visual contrast against the black silk ground. The kimono is in good vintage condition, showing light signs of age and wear, including faint marks and minor areas of thinning visible on close inspection, consistent with age and careful use. No major damage is noted. This piece is an authentic example of traditional Japanese formal dress and can be dated to the early–mid 20th century, corresponding to the Taishō to early Shōwa period, circa 1920s–1950s. It is well suited for collectors, display, or study, particularly within the context of Japanese ceremonial culture and performing arts.
