Classified "1er Grand Cru Classé" in 1973 (after being "only" classified 2nd Grand Cru in 1985), Château Mouton Rothschild produces a real classic, and one of the highest level wines in Bordeaux. This 1981 vintage has been bought in the '90s and matured during more than 20 years in a perfectly climate-controlled wine cellar. However, it has suffered some water damage, resulting in a bad appearance. The label is in poor condition, though still readable (see pictures). This vintage of Mouton scores 90.1 points at Cellartracker (99 reviews at time of writing), with recent scores between 89 and 93 points..
