This bronze statue of Jurojin was created approximately 50 to 100 years ago, between the Meiji period and the early Showa period. The artist is Hidemine 秀峰. Jurojin is holding a cane. Unfortunately, the cane is broken. It broke cleanly so it might be possible to glue it back together. Jurojin is one of the Seven Gods of Fortune. A deity originating from Chinese Taoism, he is depicted as a short, long-headed old man holding a staff and a fan, and accompanied by a deer. He is worshipped as the god of longevity, and is said to grant benefits such as extending life and curing illness.
