Vase - Bronse - Japan - Takaoka Masaharu (正晴) (Ingen reservasjonspris)

This elegant Takaoka bronze vase is a classic example of Japanese metal craftsmanship, featuring the refined “Tsuru-kubi” (crane-neck) form, characterized by its long, slender neck and well-balanced rounded body. The surface is finished with a richly textured patina in deep bronze tones, accented by organic splashes of reddish copper color. This expressive surface treatment reflects traditional Japanese aesthetic sensibilities, where subtle irregularities and natural effects are highly valued. The vase stands gracefully on its small circular foot, giving it both stability and visual lightness. The base bears an engraved signature “Masaharu” (正晴), indicating the work of a named artisan. The piece comes with its original presentation box(made of paper), which includes an explanatory leaflet describing the history and tradition of Takaoka bronze ware, a craft with origins dating back to the Edo period. This vase is suitable both as a functional flower vase and as a sculptural decorative object, making it an excellent addition to collections of Japanese art, metalwork, or mid-20th-century design. Artist / Maker Information: Masaharu (正晴) was an artisan working within the tradition of Takaoka bronze ware, produced in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture. Takaoka bronze has a history of over 400 years, beginning in the early Edo period (Japanese calendar Keichō era, 慶長年間 / Western calendar early 17th century). Artisans of this region are known for advanced casting techniques and refined surface finishes. While detailed biographical records of Masaharu are limited, the presence of a signature and original box suggests this work was produced as a high-quality studio or workshop piece rather than mass production.
