Bokender (2) - Kamphøner - Sølvpatinert spelter montert på marmorbasis.
French pair of Art Deco bookends featuring stylized fighting cocks (roosters) in a dramatic, defensive pose.
France, 1930s - 1940s.
These figures are cast in spelter (regule) with a warm silver-toned finish, accented by a pale green verdigris-style patina that highlights the intricate textures of the feathers, combs, and wattles. The roosters are detailed with vibrant orange-red eyes, giving them a fierce and spirited expression. Each bird is perched atop a variegated brecciated marble cube, which is mounted on a solid white marble rectangular base.
The sharp, angular lines of the wings and the geometric stacking of the marble make these a classic example of Art Deco animalier design. They serve as both a bold decorative statement and a functional addition to any bookshelf.
Good vintage condition with small signs of aging and blemishes consistent with age. Se all pictures to make a informed decision, the pictures are part of the description.
