Spinosaurus - Fossil tann - 9.3 cm (Ingen reservasjonspris)

→9.3 cm long x 2.4 cm wide at the widest point →weight 56 grams It is beautiful, nicely curved and multi colored teeth of the iconic Spinosaurus from lower Cretaceous around ~95 Million years ago. The teeth is in natural state and is professionally conserved to make it long lasting. The tip of the teeth has red colored tone to it and this is also visible at some parts of the exposed root of the teeth. This redness is primarily associated with the presence of iron compounds during the fossilization process. Also, parts of teeth are vivibly white and this is mostly due to Silica and Calcium compounds during fossilization process. The teeth also has the characteristic flutes (weak longitudinal ridges) which run across the crown of the teeth and they can be felt more by rubbing finger on it and has slight sharpness to it while other theropod dinosaurs has more prominent and substantially sharp cutting surfaces with serrations as well, this is because Spinosaurus lived near water bodies and preyed mainly on fish & aquatic animals and occasionally pterosaurs. One of the region along those flutes is raised up and is indicated by a red-arrow in one of the photos. The likely reason is that it is pathological sign of the teeth (meaning the teeth had this deformed feature at the time when that particular Spinosaurus was alive). Other, though less likely explanation , might be that forces of fossilization process have pushed that flute region upwards. The underside of the teeth also looks nice with a mix of sand and the surrounding root bone turned into white bone like. Overall its a beautiful Spinosaurus teeth specimen. Detailed photos have been provided for reference.
