Keiichi Akimoto - Vietnam at War - 1965

1965 special issue of Asahi Graph reporting the realities of war; includes Ken Kaiko’s early milestone “Vietnam War Chronicle.” Published by Asahi Shimbun as an emergency feature, this supplement documents the Vietnam conflict with text in Japanese and a large format of approx. 33 × 26 cm. It brings together Ken Kaiko’s dispatches from February 1965 and a powerful body of photographs by staff photographer Keiichi Akimoto, conveying on-the-ground tension and human expression. Contemporary accounts noted that some 200 war correspondents were active and only a small fraction returned, a severity reflected in these pages. Regarded as a classic of reportage, Kaiko narrowly escaped death during this assignment. Accompanying him, Akimoto produced one of his defining series, recording in detail the harrowing execution of a Vietnamese high-school student. Beyond photojournalism, this volume stands as a valuable primary source for researchers and collectors of modern war reporting. --- Condition --- The cover shows age-related wear, with a stain on the upper right area. There is light surface rubbing overall and a small crease on one corner. The interior pages are free from detachment or tears, and readability is not affected. --- Keywords --- Asahi Graph/Vietnam War/Ken Kaiko/Keiichi Akimoto/Photojournalism/1965 --- Shipping --- The item will be shipped from Japan using a trackable service such as Japan Post or DHL. Delivery to your country generally takes about two weeks. Please note that import duties, taxes, and any related fees are not included in the item price or the shipping cost. These charges, if applicable, will be the responsibility of the buyer.
