Shigaraki - Tefat - Steintøy

A Japanese Shigaraki ware chawan (tea bowl) dating from the early to mid-20th century. This piece features a soft, natural clay body with expressive brush decoration in earthy brown tones and subtle blue vertical accents, creating a calm and wabi-sabi atmosphere. The form is slightly irregular, offering a comfortable hand feel, typical of traditional Shigaraki aesthetics. The base bears an impressed mark reading “Shigaraki”, indicating production associated with the Shigaraki kiln tradition. The individual potter is not identified. The chawan is accompanied by its original wooden tomobako and a cloth, which add to its authenticity and collectability. A refined example suitable for tea practice or as a collectible piece of Japanese ceramic art. Condition: Good. No cracks or chips. Minor wear on the foot rim consistent with age and use. Glaze variations and firing marks are inherent to the piece and part of its character. Shipping: The item will be carefully packed and shipped from Japan with tracking to ensure safe delivery. Important Information – Please Read Before Bidding Customs duties, VAT, and import clearance fees are not included in the shipping cost and are the responsibility of the buyer. These charges vary depending on your country’s import regulations and are beyond the seller’s control. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
