Antique French mantel clock made of gilt bronze (ormolu). France, late 19th century. The clock is designed in Louis XVI / Neoclassical style and features a decorative figural composition, typical of French interior clocks of this period. The case is richly cast with finely detailed relief and retains its original aged gilding. The enamel dial with Roman numerals is in good condition. The clock is fitted with a French mechanical movement by Japy Frères, one of the most renowned French clock manufacturers of the 19th century.
