Contemporary speckled calf leather binding, faded gilt title and decorations on spines, folio. Covers worn and some minor dam., especially to top and bottom of the spine. The third volume presenting more serious damages. Slight foxing on all text blocks (as usual), occasional (mild) water marks, and a few loose(ning) pages and pastedowns. This edition is posthumous to its author, who was accused of getting dangerously close to reformist doctrines. Baillet challenged the Church's dogmas and did not tell the saints' miracles that were not proven.
