Vase - Fajanse - majolika apoteksglass

Decorative Italian maiolica pharmacy jar (albarello type), hand-painted with floral scrolls and a central heraldic shield depicting an animal head. The jar bears the inscription “BERBERI”, referring to Berberis, a traditional medicinal substance used in historical pharmacy. The painted date “1584” is to be understood as a historical reference and does not indicate the production date of the object. The piece is executed in a historicist style inspired by Renaissance Italian pharmacy ceramics and was most likely produced in Italy during the mid-20th century. The jar features a white glazed body with polychrome decoration in blue, yellow, green and black. The base is unglazed and shows a handwritten signature, typical of studio or workshop production. Material: glazed ceramic (maiolica) Origin: Italy Period: 20th century (circa 1940–1960) Dimensions: Height: 25 cm Width: 14.5 cm Depth: 14.5 cm Diameter: 14.5 cm Weight: approx. 1080 g Condition: Good vintage condition. The glaze shows areas of wear and losses, with the underlying maiolica body visible in places, particularly on raised areas and edges. These signs are consistent with age, handling and use. No cracks or structural damage. Please refer to the photographs for details. An attractive decorative object for collectors of Italian maiolica and historical pharmacy ceramics. Please note that buyers are responsible for any applicable import duties, taxes/VAT, customs clearance, and carrier handling fees. These are not included in the item price or shipping cost. Shipping to the United States is not offered due to current customs and shipping costs. Shipping to other non-EU countries is available at the stated rate.
