Vikingtiden Bronse Ring (Ingen reservasjonspris)

Description from the seller This authentic Viking Age bronze ring features an engraved bezel decorated with characters derived from the Elder Futhark runic alphabet, the earliest writing system of the Germanic and Norse world. Rings bearing runes were not merely decorative objects but served as carriers of identity, authority, and symbolic power. The runes appear intentionally arranged rather than randomly applied. While a definitive transliteration cannot be asserted due to wear and stylization, the composition closely resembles protective or declarative runic formulas, commonly used in Viking material culture. Such inscriptions were often intended to invoke strength, protection, divine favor, or personal authority rather than to spell full linguistic sentences. Runic rings of this type may have functioned as personal talismans, signet rings, or status markers, worn by individuals familiar with runic symbolism—warriors, traders, or members of the Norse elite. The slightly raised bezel and compact form reinforce its role as a meaningful object designed for daily wear. The surface displays a stable archaeological patina consistent with long-term use and burial. The runes remain clearly visible, enhancing both the visual impact and the symbolic presence of the piece. A Certificate of Ownership / descriptive documentation can be provided digitally in PDF format upon request. Culture: Viking Age / Norse Period: c. 9th–11th century AD Material: Bronze Object: Ring with runic inscription Inner diameter: approx. 25 mm Weight: 7.05 g Condition: Good ancient condition with stable patina
