Antique large Frozen Charlie China doll. An antique German Frozen Charlie doll, a specific type of all-china bathing doll made without joints between approximately 1850 and 1920. The name "Frozen Charlie" (or "Frozen Charlotte") comes from a 19th-century folk ballad about a girl who refused to wear a coat to a ball and froze to death. The doll is made from a single, solid piece of glazed ceramic, known as "all-china". It features painted facial details, including black hair, painted eyes, and rosy cheeks. These dolls were popular as bath toys due to their solid construction. it has a pink tint to his head and neck with wonderful facial paint. Rosy cheeks, big brown centered eyes, full red lips, dark black curved eyebrows and black wispy hair. His hands are extended and legs separated.
