An official Port Ellen bottling from the famous Rare Malts Selection, the predecessor of Diageo’s Special Releases. The single malt was distilled in 1978 and was matured for 22 years until being bottle at a natural cask strength of 60.5% ABV. It shows a very complex nose of vanilla and almonds, joined by grapefruit, graphite, diesel oil, walnuts and apple skins. The palate combines sweet and savoury flavours, including lemon, caramel and oyster sap.
