Bokender (2) - Marmor - Streamline Moderne
A striking pair of heavy French bookends from the Art Deco period (circa 1925-1935).
The design features a classic modernist geometric shape with clean lines and stepped angles, typical of the architecture of the Roaring Twenties. These pieces are a prime example of the Streamline Moderne movement, characterized by clean lines and the luxurious use of contrasting natural stones.
The bookends are masterfully crafted from a combination of three distinct types of marble:
Base & Back: A warm, mottled pink/beige marble with visible fossil inclusions.
Contrasting Arch: Deep polished black marble.
Inlay: A beautiful green and white veined marble (likely Verde Alpi).
These heavy, high-quality pieces are not only functional but serve as elegant sculptural objects for a vintage or contemporary interior.
Condition:
Good vintage condition with signs of age and wear commensurate with age. Please see the photos for a detailed impression of the condition, the pictures are part of the description.
