Beskrivelse fra selgeren

Le Roi pepe|Antoni Clavé

This lithograph titled “Le Roi pepe” is a work by Antoni Clavé.
From the 1950s to the 1960s, Clavé produced numerous series featuring playing cards, medieval knights, and kings as motifs.
The image of the “king” seen in “Le Roi pepe” is depicted as a symbolic figure that appears humorous rather than imposing, and at times carries a sense of melancholy.
The use of vivid colors placed within a dark tonal composition has been described as a fusion of the traditions of his native Spain and the refinement of Paris.
