Oldtidens Hellas, mykensk Terrakotta oljelampe - 12 cm
Wheel-made pottery lamp with a central tube, an inturned concave rim, a narrow rounded shoulder, and a short rounded nozzle. Decorated with a red brownish slip, inside and outside on the rim. Knops at either side of the nozzle.
Either a Howland Type 12A or 19A Greek oil lamp. Richard Hubbard Howland developed a refined typology for Greek lamps found within the ancient Greek city of Athens. (Howland 1958).
Dimensions: 12 cm (from nozzle to back).
Condition: Nose repaired.
Provenance: Dutch collection. Formerly in the West German collection of Dr. J.E., in Germany since 1967 and since then in family ownership. With German export license.
