Oldtidens Egypt Faience-fat med lotusblomst

Ancient Egyptian Faience Dish with Lotus Flower Circa 664-332 BC, Late Period This elegant blue-green faience dish has a shallow profile with a recessed central medallion moulded as a lotus rosette and a broad flat rim encircled by radiating stylised lotus petals. The lotus held a central place in Egyptian religion and iconography, symbolising creation, rebirth, and the daily cycle of the sun. Its habit of closing at night and opening at sunrise associated it with solar renewal and the emergence of life from the primordial waters. The flower was linked to funerary beliefs, representing regeneration and eternal life, and was frequently depicted in tomb and temple decoration. Dimensions: 9 X 9 X 1,5cm Provenance: Private European Collection; formerly acquired from old UK and European collection formed since the 1970s. Disclaimer: NO SHIPPING OUTSIDE of THE EUROPEAN UNION.
