In my work, "Sweet Pop Heart," I consciously draw on the fundamental tenets of Pop Art, deconstructing and simultaneously celebrating icons of popular culture. My starting point is the timeless Chupa Chups logo, which has long functioned not only as a trademark but as a universal symbol of childhood, sweetness, and joy. This isn't a mere replication; it's an artistic transformation. I removed the Chupa Chups logo from its commercial context and placed it within a completely new, sculptural, and contemplative frame. Placing it on a three-dimensional, convex yellow heart is my deliberate attempt to transform a simple design into a universal symbol of emotion and pleasure associated with consumption. The heart, as an archetype of love and passion, gives what was originally a marketing symbol a completely new, deeper, and humanistic dimension. It's a form of homage and, at the same time, a canonization of an icon, much like Warhol canonized Campbell's Soup. The background surrounding this beating heart is an abstract microcosm created from multi-layered epoxy resin. Its deep black, interwoven with reflections of red and gold, is a chaotic yet beautiful galaxy of flavor and memories, reinforcing the impression that the logo has been elevated to the sacred realm of art. The entire piece is embedded in a custom-made, deep resin frame, further emphasizing the three-dimensionality and immersive nature of the piece. Every element of this piece—from the hand-sculpted heart, through the precise application of the logotype, to the creation of the abstract background—is the result of my individual, artisanal labor. This is not a mass-produced product; it is a unique work of art that brings not only aesthetic pleasure but also intellectual commentary on the relationship between art, branding, and emotions in today's world. "Sweet Pop Heart" is a work that will surely enrich any Pop Art collection, offering a unique blend of nostalgia, criticism, and craftsmanship.
