Keltiske Sølv votivhane-figur

Attention: due to customs regulations we can only ship inside the European Union. Please ensure you have a valid EU shipping address before placing a bid. A finely modelled Celtic silver zoomorphic votive figure, depicting a stylised rooster, rendered in an elegant and highly decorative manner. The elongated body is adorned with incised geometric and linear motifs, while the head and tail terminate in angular, beak-like forms. A loop on the back allows for suspension, while a small perforation likely served for mounting or securing the piece. -> The stylisation and abstraction are characteristic of Celtic artistic traditions, where natural forms were transformed into rhythmic, patterned designs. The rooster held symbolic significance in both Celtic and later Roman contexts, often associated with vigilance, protection, and the transition between night and day, making it a fitting subject for a votive or apotropaic object. Size: ± 28 x 6,8 x 5,9 mm Weight: ± 2,5 g Condition: good and solid condition. Minor surface irregularities and signs of wear consistent with age and use. Certificate of Authenticity: available upon request (pdf-format). Material: This object has been carefully examined for its material and surface characteristics. Laboratory analysis (e.g. XRF) is not routinely undertaken in private collecting, and destructive testing is avoided as it causes permanent damage to archaeological material. Before modern hallmarking, gold and silver alloys varied depending on local resources, recycling practices and economic conditions.
