Antique Neo-Baroque Wall Clock (Cartel) Period: Late 19th century (approximately 1880–1890) Region: France Case Description: This luxurious cartel-style wall clock is crafted in the finest Neo-Baroque traditions. The façade is richly decorated with high-relief floral ornamentation, volutes, and acanthus leaves. At the top of the composition is a striking mascaron (depicting Chronos or a mythological deity), symbolizing the inexorable passage of time. The case is gilded, preserving its noble luster. Dial and Hands: Gilded metal dial with a clear guilloche pattern in the center. Roman numerals are applied to the cartouches. Classic openwork "Louis XV" hands emphasize the aristocratic appearance of the piece. Two winding holes (running and striking) are provided. Movement specifications: Type: Mechanical, pendulum, spring-driven. Features: Solid brass plates, massive escapement wheel. The back plate bears a repair/service mark from the watchmaker, dated July 10, 1908, confirming its historical authenticity and long history of use.
