Alexandre Petrus (1988) - LA MADONE SIXTINE

INFORMATIONS TECHNIQUES Title : La Madone Sixtine Artist : Alexandre Petrus Technique : Hand-cut stencil, spray paint and acrylic Support : Cotton canvas on wooden stretcher Dimension : 92 x 65 x 2 cm Year of creation : 2026 Signature : Hand-signed, AP monogram on the front Authenticity : Certificate of authenticity included Condition : Excellent condition ABOUT THE ARTWORK “La Madone Sixtine” is a contemporary reinterpretation of one of the most iconic masterpieces of Renaissance art. This composition revisits the sacred imagery of the Madonna and Child, surrounded by emblematic figures, while translating it into a bold urban visual language. The classical scene is preserved in its structure, yet transformed through the use of stencil and expressive textures, creating a dialogue between tradition and modernity. The central figure, carrying the child, retains a sense of grace and solemnity, while the surrounding characters add depth and narrative presence. The lower section, with the famous cherubs, anchors the composition and reinforces its historical reference. The background is built through instinctive layers of blue, turquoise, grey and vibrant accents, bringing energy and contrast to the otherwise timeless subject. Drips and textures introduce a raw street art aesthetic that disrupts the classical codes, giving the piece a contemporary edge. The artwork was created using my signature double-layer stencil technique. The entire composition was digitally reinterpreted and then meticulously hand-cut before being applied with spray paint and acrylic. This process allows for a high level of detail while maintaining the spontaneity and unpredictability of the painted background. This piece stands at the intersection of classical heritage and urban expression — a tribute that both respects and reinvents one of art history’s most recognizable images. This is a unique, original artwork. Even if the stencil may be reused in future works, each background remains entirely one of a kind. ABOUT THE ARTIST Alexandre Petrus is a French stencil artist whose work blends street art aesthetics, digital design and traditional craftsmanship. His stencils are digitally designed and then hand-cut with precision. His artistic approach is based on the dialogue between control and spontaneity. The stencil provides structure and detail, while the background is created instinctively, allowing textures and emotion to emerge — a philosophy he defines as “originality in repetition.” He has created murals across France and performs live painting for weddings and corporate events, bringing his urban artistic universe into diverse environments. All artworks are original pieces — no prints, no editions. SHIPPING The artwork will be carefully packaged with professional materials to ensure optimal protection. Tracked and insured shipping.
