All color plates are tipped-in. Tipped-in plates are illustrations, printed separately from the main text and glued into a book at the very top left and right tip, after binding, usually along the inner margin. This method, which is very cumbersome and time consuming, allows for higher-quality, multi-method printing on different paper than the text.
