Globe Dr. Fischer av Wagner & Debes - ca. 1920

A handsome early German terrestrial globe published by Wagner & Debes, Leipzig, with German-language cartography and a diameter of approx. 25 cm. The sphere is clearly legible and highly decorative, featuring rich period cartography with political borders, railway lines and steamship routes, all of which immediately convey the charm of early 20th-century educational and popular geography. The globe is mounted on an elegant turned wooden base, with metal support and a small inset compass in the base, a particularly attractive and uncommon detail that enhances both its collector appeal and decorative presence. Wagner & Debes, the historic cartographic publisher from Leipzig, was linked to the publishing tradition of Ludwig Julius Heymann, an important name in the production of German educational globes, while the wording “Neu bearbeitet von Dr. H. Fischer” indicates a cartographic revision or update prepared by Dr. H. Fischer, in keeping with a common practice in geographical editions of the period. Condition is good considering its age, with normal signs of age and use, light surface wear and small period-consistent imperfections, without affecting the readability of the cartography or its strong decorative appeal. An authentic, cultured and visually appealing piece, ideal both for collectors and as a refined interior object.
