Maurizio Valch (1972) - XXL - Genesis Territory

The piece is in excellent condition, with no damage or restorations. Dimensions: 80 × 120 cm (full image). The artwork is shipped unframed and unstretched, carefully rolled inside a protective tube to ensure safe delivery. A contemporary abstract acrylic painting structured through horizontal bands of color, where the territory unfolds as a sequence of quiet, stratified fields. Earthy tones and muted chromatic transitions establish a sense of depth and stillness rather than contrast. A vertical red axis interrupts the continuity of the composition, introducing a moment of tension within an otherwise stable spatial order. This element acts as a boundary within the field, suggesting a division between interior and exterior conditions. Subtle linear marks define the edges of each plane, not as descriptive contours but as traces of separation. These incised lines articulate the structure of the space, allowing the painting to emerge as a constructed territory rather than a representation. Small geometric forms appear along the horizon and within the layered fields as points of emergence. Their restrained presence introduces scale and orientation, reinforcing the sense of a landscape where perception begins to organize itself. The composition does not rely on gesture or narrative. Instead, it sustains a quiet balance between segmentation and continuity, where space is held through proportion, silence and structural clarity. About the artist Maurizio Valch is a visual artist, writer and graphic designer, trained in Graphic Design and Fine Arts. He lived in Miami (USA) until 2013, where he ran his own studio, and later in Barcelona (Spain), where he participated in exhibitions at the Royal Artistic Circle. In 2017 he presented a work at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. He has also collaborated with MACBA. His work explores the genesis of metaphysical territories — pictorial spaces where geological landscape and human consciousness begin to intersect. Using a visual language inspired by geology, horizon lines and tectonic formations, Valch constructs territories where the emergence of individual awareness appears to arise from the earth itself. Within these landscapes, symbolic elements such as stairways, monolithic forms and architectural traces act as markers of perception, transition and genesis. Rather than depicting historical narratives or social structures, his paintings focus on a primordial moment: the appearance of individual consciousness within the territory.
