Clase Azul Mezcal Guerrero is made with Papalote agave from Guerrero, which is located south of Jalisco in Mexico, and where this agave grows wild. Mezcal Durango is a fuller version of the agave spirit mezcal with hints of grapefruit, buttery fruit notes and tobacco. The bottle is designed to honor the female Mexican ancestors and their warrior spirit, which is a large part of Guerrero's culture. The green color represents the gemstone jade, which is a symbol of eternity. The colorful top with a painted hummingbird refers to the mythical messengers of the gods and has also become a symbol of the region. The bottle is painted with volcanic dust, which reflects the manufacturing process where volcanic rocks are fired and bake the agave, giving the mezcal a naturally slightly smoky flavor. Clase Azul is a family-owned producer of premium tequila and mezcal in the small village of Santa Maria Canchesda in Los Altos, in the highlands of Jalisco in Mexico. The collaboration with and respect for the indigenous Mazahuas, and their ancient tradition of ceramics and painting techniques, has given Clase Azul its distinctive bottles. Each bottle takes 11 days to make and because all bottles are shaped and painted entirely by hand, each bottle is completely unique.
