Dresden - Figur - Mykporselen

This beautiful mid-nineteenth century Dresden, Saxonia porcelain figurine is an art allegory, it depicts two charming cherubs painting a portrait of a young couple on easel, mounted on an oval decorated stand. Woman's face is complete and one can see a sketch of a man's face on the canvas. A man's bust lies below the easel. Hand made and hand painted, this medium-sized figurine is a must-have for any collector of Renaissance or Barocco style sculptures. The figurine features intricate details, vibrant colours and gold gilt accents. This handmade piece is perfect for any room and occasion and will make a unique addition to any collection, as well as being a great gift to a loved one. Marked to the bottom with painted cobalt blue underglaze mark featuring Naples crown and a capital Z beneath, 127/1 painted in red and D2, scratched on the bottom rim graze. "Naples" crown mark is typical for German makers paying homage to Capodimonte. Indeed the style of decoration, especially of the base, is reminiscent of that of Capodimonte. Towards 19th century around 50 porcelain decorating painting studios were operating in Dresden. They specialized in decorating mostly Meissen porcelain blanks. For this reason it is often confused with Meissen porcelain. Dresden was an important center for the autistic and cultural movement. It was not the porcelain factories, but the painting studios that were responsible for Dresden porcelain being so well-known all over the world. The work of Dresden decorators often rivals that of Meissen products, but no actual porcelain was produced in Dresden. Condition report: the figurine is in an original condition, no chips, cracks or wear. Please check the photographs for detailed description. Height 7 in / 17 cm Length 5 in / 13 cm Width 6,4 in / 16 cm Weight 937 g / 2,1 lb
